Why didn’t I invest in a company I shopped at?

Why didn’t I invest in a company I shopped at? Find out why a company you shopped at may not have been picked up by our system.

Grifin works hard to make sure you invest in all the public companies you shop at. Sometimes there are situations where our transaction matching algorithm doesn’t work as expected. This is where we’d love to have your help! If one of your transactions didn’t match correctly let us know in the app, by clicking on the transaction and then selecting "Suggest Transaction Match". This is simply a suggestion and will not change anything about the purchases that have already happened. We will have someone from our team review your suggestion and make updates to improve our algorithm moving forward.

If your transaction matched to cash:

If you’ve chosen for your weekly transfers to include cash, then this transaction will be added as $1 to your cash fund. You can use it to buy stock in one of the companies you already own.

If you have not chosen for your weekly transfers to include cash, then this transaction will not be included in your upcoming transfer.

If your transaction matched to the wrong company:

You’ll buy $1 of stock in the incorrectly matched company once your weekly transfer is complete. You can either keep your ownership in that new company or you can sell that $1 of stock.
